The mobile exhibition “Atlas Pamięci” (Atlas of Memory) relates directly to the beginnings of the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union “Solidarity.” At the turn of August and September 1980, in four Polish cities - Szczecin, Gdansk, Jastrzêbie-Zdrój and D±browa Górnicza - representatives of trade unionists and the government signed the so-called August Agreements, which enabled the registration of the union and influenced the course of history.
The exhibition was located in four mobile containers, each dedicated to one of the cities. The events related to the August Accords were told in the form of visual and audio impressions, using new media. The architectural leitmotif of the exhibition is irregular, pulsating cuboid forms. Their structure and colors allude to structures characteristic of the industrial plants where it all began.
→ The exhibition is produced and coordinated by the Marshal's Office of the Silesian Voivodeship and the Ars Cameralis Cultural Institution, with support from the Silesian Freedom and Solidarity Center. OVO Grąbczewscy Architekci are responsible for the architectural design, the multimedia installation was created by the tajny_projekt design office, and the whole project was executed by PTE Trans Sp. z o.o. and PROMUS Katowice Sp. z o.o.Video animations based on archival photos of four industrial plants associated with the four cities where the August Agreements were signed in 1980. The animations were created using techniques for working with 2D images.
